29-31 August: Giant Mini Festival

@ the Candy Factory (Bolsjefabrikken)

The old candy factory has invited all the creatives of Copenhagen to show off their skills: sound, paint, video, scene, installation, artists, speakers, dancers….etc. During August they have had time to finish their work. The festival presents music, performance, silent disco and simply cozyness.


30 August: Save Nørrebro Park

@ Nørrebroparken, Nørrebro, Copenhagen
15:00 – 22:00 hrs, free entrance

Party for the people. Music by Ras Money, Firehouse, Copyflex among others.

The party will be a happy and peaceful protest against the plans to turn the park into a building site.
So come celebrate one of Copenhagen’s green treasures.

29 August: ‘More love to Bryggen’ exhibition

Is Copenhagen drowning in expensive and streamlined new building? That is the opinion of a group of artists, who therefore has made an exhibition in a threatened building located in the Bryggen area. The exhibition focuses on the development of Copenhagen, especially Bryggen and the surrounding area. With the exhibition the artists hope to show the importance of creative life in urban spaces.

29 August: Parkour Workshop

@ Ørestad Gymnasium (high-school)

Free entrance. Just come.

Parkour challenges urban space and urban decor. Learn the techniques when Copenhagen Moves encourages sport and movement in Copenhagen. Team Yiyo will start out with a fabulous show. Afterwards you can try out the urban sport on your own under the supervision of Team Yiyo. The setting is the Ørestad highshcool, which is award winning for its spectacular architecture. Remember your trainers.

26 & 27 August: Future Shots

What happens when the collective power of the internet unfolds in real life – when this is used at the 200 DJs party?
This is shown at the 200 DJs party, where the distinction between performer and audience will fade to grey. The party is a 100% user driven party where there is no DJ and yet 200 DJs, VJs and performers.

22-24 August: Trailer Park Festival

@ Cph Skatepark, Enghavevej 78

TrailerPark 08 is a three-day music and arts festival running from Friday 22. August, Saturday 23. Sunday 24. August 2008. TrailerPark 08 is a Copenhagen-based event organized by ArtRebels. The urban location of Cph Skatepark fits perfectly for this years edition of TrailerPark. TrailerPark is a charity event that help fund the project Art To Action.

16 August: Street party in Nansensgade

@ Nansensgade, Copenhagen

An annual event, when the entire street of Nansensgade invites everyone to celebrate and hang out. The wine bar Bibendum is hosting a barbeque and people can enjoy their renowned and notorious sangria blend. Also, Barbarellah is celebrating their birthday with a DJ line-up.

12 -17 August: Strøm Festival

@ public places & venues around Copenhagen

For the second time the Strøm Festival invites people to experience six days of vibrating electronic music.

The intention is to create an international gathering for electronic musicians and for the people dedicated to and working for this genre.

The festival hosts events, parties and concerts in public places as well as in various venues all over Copenhagen. Lounge in Trinitatis Church, experience new Danish performers in the artistic setting of the Danish National Gallery, party in the local street outside of Grandteatret cinema, or come to Enghave parken and see the sun setting behind the stage.

All outdoor events are free of charge. Indoor events are charged according to the venue.

7 August: Helle Mardahl Vernissage

Artist and designer Helle Mardahl displays “a royal orgie of consumption” during Copenhagen Fashion Week 2008. Prints, collages and sculptures together form a total-installation that gives the perception of a lavish upper-class environment. But an autonomous underworld of rebellion, misery and popular culture scratches the surface.

Helle Mardahl (1976) combines visual art and graphic fashion design. She is educated from the prestigious Central Saint Martins.
