BIKE FOR A BETTER FUTURE:

April 11 a bicycle caravan started out in Skagen. It has made its way through 40 cities across the danish country and wednesday we get the chance to join in.

Pimp your bike and chill in the multi-ethnic surroundings at Superkilen, and join the crowd heading for Christiansborg Palace Square at 2 pm.

It is all in favor of our environment and to encourage prime minister Helle Thorning to take the political lead for a green future in connection with the Rio Earth Summit this summer.

At Christiansborg Palace Square there will be concerts by Raske Penge/Klumben, Eaggerstunn and Pharfar, various speeches, free fair-trade coffee and the like from 4 pm. At 6 pm the afterparty starts at ‘Global’ located on Nørre Allé 7, where there is cheap food and lots of music.

Once in a while I find a really good 2nd hand store and this is no exception. Gemmeren is probably the most ‘hyggelig’ and cheap store I have ever found in Copenhagen. And that’s why I simply had to start contributing there a few weeks back.

Our neighbors bring us piles of pretty dresses, pumps and t-shirts. We have got clothes for both sexes and items like LP’s, CD’s, paintings and accessories.

This Easter an army of chicks and yellow stuff has invaded Gemmeren and we want to invite you inside. Have a look around and relax with a cup of coffee on the couch.

It is going to be really cheap and the money you spend goes to Folkekirkens Nødhjælp and their work in the world’s poorest countries as usual.

Get your Ass to Mars presents: ‘The Woken Trees’ and ‘Shiny Darkly’.

It’s innovative post punk music in the chilled surroundings of Musikcaféen, Huset i Magstræde.

The two bands are upcoming rock/pop bands, supported by The Wands and accompanied by special guest: Strangers on a train.

Shiny Darkly have recently been signed by Crunchy Frog and will have their EP out in May meanwhile Woken Trees’ EP is already out there.

I wan’t say much more, check out Facebook (in danish though) and go see yourself.

One last thing I will mention is that the visuals are taken care of by a guy named Asger. Asgerlamper. To me this means the concert will have ultimate conditions when it comes to persuading people into letting themselves get carried away. And we like that, don’t we?

48 hours, 16 actors, 4 playwrights, 4 directors and 4 premieres.

The theathre concept “Det Kolde Bord #2” (The Cold Table) welcomes all of us to the premiere of 4 plays written, directed and staged within 48 hours, by a bunch of young talented cool people.

It all takes place on the stage “Planeten” at Huset i Magstræde. Although the 4 plays are all in Danish, I have to recommend it anyways because of the great experience I had the last time it took place. After the 4 plays there will be a party, both on the stage and out by the bar, which boasts cheap prices.

So if you’re not the theatre-type come anyway, have a dance, meet some funny people and have a drink, beer or soda around The Cold Table.

Watch international films for free with Copenhagen Movie Evenings.

Tired of all the snow, minus degrees and icy pavements? Really just wanna stay at home, cuddled up in a blanket? Well, this event is worth fighting the cold winter for.

Every second Thursday of the month all winter long, CPH Movie Evenings shows films from all around the world, films reflecting the complex world we live in. All films will be in English or with English subtitles, and it’s films that are not premiering in the commercial cinemas. The keywords for the films showed is “identity and culture in a political and social world – one way or another.”

The films are for free and the cafe will sell popcorn and cheap beer. Another cool thing is that every film will be chosen by the audience who shows up on the evening. You can propose and read about the films on CPH Movie Evenings’ website.

So put on that woolen underwear, get out the door and enjoy a cozy evening at Støberiet.

Kronprinse​nsgade 9, in the back at Le Fix behind Cheep Monday Show map

A great way to start your weekend could be by dropping by Kronprinsensgade 9 in the backyard and chill with the two shops Cheap Monday and  Le Fix.

The two shops invites you to pancakes, coffee and some cold beers and don’t worry about the cold, there´s heat from inflamed oil barrels. The whole event is a continuation of a semi-annual neighborhood party  which is held at Kronprinsensgade. The street has been shut down for everyday traffic so that people can drop by and sit and chill in the street, enjoy DJ’s playing music and have a little fun wth friends.

So if you feel like celebrating the start of a great weekend, drop by  the backyard at Kronprinsensgade 9 and bring your perfect after-work/weekend mood and your friends.

DANSEhallerne på Carlsberg, Pasteursvej 14, 1778 København V Show map

The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and DANSEhallerne have invited the Brazilian artist Ricardo Basbaum for a hospitality project of 14 days in Copenhagen.

The project is called ‘Host Guest Ghost’ which states what seems to be the essence of the project: An international exchange of different types of art between the professional guest and the students of the Art Academy. The ghost in this matter is what happens when the audience and the artists meet.

At the 1st event in March 2011 the audience witnessed Chef Magnus Sonne on stage surrounded by heaps of ingredients and 2 modern dancers, dancing to the beat of his knife.

I can’t tell you what will happen this time, but it’s definitely going to be centred on words and soup, and most likely include more joy than an ordinary sleepy Sunday at home.

“It’s gonna be a cold, cold christmas without…” a sledge!

It’s not that I haven’t noticed the lack of snow, I just think it’s better to be safe than sorry.

(And what would be cooler than riding your own self-made sledge when the snow gets here?)

On this day Kulturskaberne provide you with all the materials, equipment and hopefully a bit of guidance in how to build your own sledge.

There will be material available for 50 sledges in total and of course you will find shining lights in the christmas tree, hot chocolate and sweet christmas tunes as well. So, bring a friend and build away!

Maybe you are hungover on sunday and need something spicy to jumpstart your system – maybe you just have curious taste buds… In both cases World Food Fair should meet your demands.

I know it’s late in the month and money are scarce – but 10 tastes are only 15 kr.
