Posted 1 February 2012 by Smunk

Copenhagen invites you to get winter jazzy for the next two weeks!

The annual Copenhagen Winter Jazz festival has kick-off today and runs for two full weeks, with big and small jazz concerts all over Denmark.

One of the ideas behind the Winter Jazz festival is to put focus on all the dedicated jazz places all over Denmark, and to encourage different music venues to be more jazzy..

Most of the concerts are being held at small music venues and have free entries.

So get out there – support your local music café or bar and get jazzier! It will definitely keep you warm in the winter cold!

Mike Sheridan in Brorsons Church

Posted 7 April 2011 by Leh

March 11th a couple of Hello Copenhageners went to Brorsons Church to listen to electro/ alternative music.

When we got there, people were lying all over the floor, just giving into the music. The only light came from the Vj’s light maschine which gave the whole experience a sinister fairytale feeling.

I’m sure this event will be in my top ten events of this year and I hope it was not the last time the church gets invaded by light and soothing sounds.

My friend and photographer Kenneth Nguyen covered the event:

free entrance

19:00 – 00:00 //free entrance

If you’re looking for a sweet way to kickstart your weekend – don’t look any further, we have the perfect proposal for you.

Friday night Mike Sheridan, amongst other artists, fills Brorsons church (!!!) with heavenly vibes.

The church is going to be lit up by big projectors, the music is done live and semi improvised, the beautiful visuals are done by Obscura & Kobe and I don’t think the sound is going to be anything else than outstanding.

It’s an open concert and you can come and go as you like. But be there in good time if you want seats – I predict a packed church.

Bonus: Free roles and chili cocoa but no religious or other devine interventions.

See Mike Sheridan’s event on Facebook and the whole program at Brorsons Kirke

2-4 September: Barometer Concerts

Royal Playhouse, Portscenen Show map

19:00-23:00 // free entrance

Det elektriske barometerThe radio program called ‘The Electric Barometer’ will be hosting three nights and inviting some of the favorite bands of the program – in total six concerts.

The radio program is a hit list of new underground music and is a really good indicator for where the wind is blowing on the alternative scene. Besides this, listeners write letters about their experiences, pleasures and sorrows that the hosts read during the broadcast.

This program meant a lot to me when I was in my teens and was part of forming my musical identity, I remember those dark Sunday evenings with blowing candles. I guess lots of young people is still inspired by it.

The concerts will start at 19:00 and 21:00 with with these promising names followed by DJs:

Thursday: Taxi Taxi, The Kissaway Trail
Friday: Chimes & Bells, Sterling
Saturday: Mouritz / Hørslev, Oh No Ono
